Insects making their whole lives happen on one leaf. Animals with entire territories we walk straight through without noticing. This work is really just me asking you to slow down and actually look. And then look again.

I draw insects in pencil and charcoal, and I build these paper mâché animal masks by hand, just poking around in the beauty and weirdness of these little overlooked worlds. There's something about a beetle's ridiculous geometry, or the see-through architecture of a wing, that I find completely irresistible — it's whimsical, it's a little absurd, but underneath that there's something more urgent too. These aren't background creatures. They're literally holding up the ecosystems we depend on, and somewhere along the way we just... forgot.

Humans have used insects and animals as messengers and symbols forever — across every culture, going way back. A moth heading straight for the flame. A scarab pushing the sun across the sky. A fox slipping between what's known and what isn't. I keep coming back to that layered-ness — how one small creature can be a living thing, an ecological worker, and something that feels almost spiritual, all at the same time. Every piece in this show is holding all of that at once, and I want you to find your own meaning in it, not just mine.

The drawings are simple, but they're intimate — sitting there slowly rendering an insect in graphite and charcoal is its own kind of paying attention, almost meditative. The masks are the opposite energy — playful, a little theatrical, an invitation to put on another creature's face and see through different eyes for a minute.

Put together, this is my love letter to tiny worlds that are anything but small — worlds humming with life, meaning and a little mystery I still haven't figured out.
